Who we treat
Dr. Barbara treats everyone, including athletes and weekend warriors, office workers and students sitting at the computer all day, pregnant women and children. We have a large number of seniors in our practice and is skilled at dealing with the specific needs of this population. We treat people with spinal conditions such as stenosis, arthritis, degeneration and disc herniations. Dr. Barbara also treats people who care about wellness and prevention and those who want to correct and deal with old injuries and traumas.
Chiropractic Techniques
Dr. Barbara has been trained in traditional diversified chiropractic adjustments as well as non-force drop table adjustments and instrument adjusting techniques such as the Activator and Arthrostim. The use of these instruments allows her to perform spinal adjustments on patients who require a light touch.
In addition, she is trained in multiple bodywork therapies, such as trigger point therapy, myofascial release technique and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. She is certified in the McKenzie protocals for treating herniated discs.
Dr. Barbara uses a variety of additional physiotherapy techniques. Moist heat and ice are utilized depending on your specific condition. Stretching allows the muscles to relax, improves range of motion and gives you a feeling of well-being and relaxation. More importantly, it helps the adjustments “hold” better and last longer. Dr. Barbara will teach the appropriate stretches to compliment the adjustments and will review the routines that you have been doing to make sure they are the right ones for you!
Dr. Barbara will assist you with proper posture including recommending exercises to strengthen your core muscles. She will review proper sitting and lying postures and can do a full ergonomic review of your work site.
A full exercise program will be designed for each patient to strengthen your muscles and improve your overall health and vitality. These exercises are designed to be performed at home, in the gym or outside in the nearest park.
